For as long as I can remember, I have had a love of food. Even as a child, I loved eating all sorts of different things.
Growing up, my mom made home cooked meals almost every night. My sister and I grew up learning how to cook, and even cooked dinner periodically once we became old enough. Good food has been a part of my life for a very long time.
Over the years I have learned a great deal about food and am a self-proclaimed foodie. Creating new recipes is a passion of mine, whether it be from scratch, or ideas from the cookbooks I enjoy reading in my free time (free time?). I am always learning new techniques, using new products and trying new ingredients. I absolutely love sharing the outcomes with others that have an interest in food. Along the way, I have had many failures, but I learned from each and every failed meal. All recipes I post are my own and have been made and tested in my own kitchen.
In addition to cooking, the boyfriend and I are always on the hunt for the next best restaurant. Living in San Diego, we spend a lot of time eating our way through the city. We read about new restaurant openings, chefs entering the San Diego food scene, and new food trends. I enjoy writing posts about the great food experiences we have (check out this post for the best things we at in 2016), in hopes that it helps others create great experiences of their own.
Traveling for Food
A love of travel is mixed in there as well…finding great foods to eat in different places around the world is a wonderful adventure. We both work full time jobs, and it is not always easy to get away, but we shoot for a couple new places a year (2016 was Singapore). Performing extensive research on the food scene before we reach each new place enables us to have some amazing experiences. Armed with our research and input from other food bloggers, we have all we need to have a great food experiences.
Throughout the years, I have learned many neat tips and tricks. From the best way to cook great eggs to tips on finding great restaurants, I hope to help others in their hunt for the best food.
The idea to start a blog came from my grandma. On a recent visit, she told me stories of the travel adventures her and my grandpa had in their earlier years. She pulled out this wonderful scrapbook of a month long African safari, and as we flipped through the pages, I saw how happy it made her to relive those memories. I realized that I want to be able to look back on my experiences with fond memories (well even just memories!). Not excited about creating a scrapbook, I decided to go a different route and start this blog. Sharing my food experiences with others brings me joy. I enjoy the opportunity to look back at the wonderful experiences and amazing food I have eaten in my life. AND, forces me to write down my recipes!
I am very excited for the opportunity to share everything I know about food!
