These jalapeno cheese hush puppies with andouille sausage are sure to be a crowd pleaser! Easy to make and incredibly addictive, they are perfect for parties or game days!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • 2 jalapenos minced
  • 1/2 cup andouille sausage browned and diced
  • 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 onion minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients together to make a batter. Heat oil in a fryer or dutch oven until the temperature reaches 350 degrees.
  • Drop teaspoons of batter in the oil and fry for 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown, flipping halfway through. When the edges start to turn golden brown, you'll know they are done.
  • Serve with remoulade sauce.
