Homemade Cheesy Sausage Grits
These cheesy sausage grits are made with andouille sausage, cream, butter and simmered in a flavorful chicken broth.

- 1 cup grits
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1/2 cup diced andouille sausage
- 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese grated
- 1 jalapeno diced
- 5 tbsp. unsalted butter
- 3 tbsp. heavy cream
- Green onions for garnish optional
- Fried eggs optional
Saute the sausage in saucepan until browned and caramelized.
Add the jalapeno and saute for 1 minute.
Add the broth and bring to a boil.
Add the grits and cook over medium-low heat until tender (20-30 minutes).
Stir in cream, butter, salt, pepper and cheese and serve. Garnish with sliced green onions.
OPTIONAL: Serve with a fried egg on top.
