Why This Recipe Works
- Fruit is cut in large enough pieces to skewer and grill without it falling off.
- The vinaigrette can be made in the short time the fruit is being grilled. It can also be made the day before.
- The chili lime vinaigrette adds the perfect amount of spice and tartness to the sweet fruit.
Step By Step Instructions

To grill, heat the grill to 400 degrees and get all your fruit skewered.
Brush with olive oil and grill for about 10 minutes, flipping half way through.

In the meantime, combine the vinaigrette ingredients in a bowl and mix well to combine (you can do this step the day before if you're trying to save time).
Remove the grilled fruit skewers from the grill, drizzle with the chili lime vinaigrette, and serve.

You can also remove all the fruit from the skewers and place in a bowl to make a fruit salad. Just drizzle the vinaigrette over the fruit after placing it in the bowl.

Expert Tips:
- Any fruit that can be skewered will work for this recipe. I lean towards tropical fruit as I personally enjoy the flavor more. You will need a total of 5 cups.
- Fruit should be cut in large enough pieces that it can be easily skewered; about 1-2" minimum.
- Brush the fruit skewers and the grill with olive oil to prevent the kebabs from sticking.
- Serve the grilled fruit over gelato or frozen yogurt for a summery treat.
- Serve with fresh homemade lemon curd for something extra special.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can Fruit Kebabs be made ahead of time? Fruit kebabs can be made a day in advance to save time. Cut up the fruit and skewer it. Place it in an airtight container or wrap it tightly in plastic and store in the fridge. Drizzle with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- How do I keep them from browning? If you make the fruit skewers ahead of time, drizzle them with lemon juice and keep them in an airtight container in the fridge to keep them from browning.
- What fruit can you cook? Any fruit such as mango, pineapple, kiwi, strawberries, papaya, melon, bananas, apples, peaches, large orange or grapefruit segments, etc. Basically, any fruit you can skewer can be grilled.
- How long do you grill fruit? Fruit can be grilled for 10-15 minutes, depending on the size. If it is grilled too long, it could become mushy. I grill for 10 minutes so it keeps its crisp texture, but gets the smoky grilled flavor.
- What can I eat with grilled fruit? These fruit kebabs can be served as a mid-day summer snack, an appetizer or a dessert. They are great served with yogurt, ice cream, lemon curd or just by themselves straight off the skewer.
