Filled with creamy Nutella, sweet bananas, and tucked into a pocket of buttery, flaky puff pastry, this 3 Ingredient Banana & Nutella Puff Pastry is the kind of dessert/snack/breakfast (?) that magically disappears the moment you put it on the table. It’s ridiculously easy, dangerously delicious, and comes together in less than 20 minutes from start to finish.
Nutella is one of my favorite inventions ever. Honestly, how did it take humanity so long?! It's chocolatey, rich, smooth, and absolutely perfect for eating straight from the jar. (Not naming names… but someone in my house does this regularly.)
And bananas + Nutella? Ohhh yes. If you haven’t eaten bananas this way, get ready for your life to forever be divided into “before” and “after.”
And because this is Went Here 8 This territory, you know we’re all about those easy-but-delicious recipes — just like my Lemon Meringue Tarts, Strawberry Galette and Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie. Minimal effort, maximum bliss.
So go ahead… treat yo’self. And don’t forget to check out the banana Nutella puff pastry story too!

Ingredients

Nutella is a chocolate and hazelnut spread that is used in pastries, on sandwiches, spread on this Brown Sugar Banana Bread or in these Nutella Brownies or Nutella Cookies. It is easily found in most store, or you can buy Nutella online.
Puff pastry and bananas are also used in this recipe.
What is Puff Pastry?
Puff pastry is a light an flaky dough made with alternating layers of butter and pastry dough. It is folded and rolled out before baking. When it bakes, the payers become airy, flaky, light and perfectly buttery. It's awesome. We use puff pastry in these awesome recipes:
The full list of ingredients and quantities is included in the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Step By Step Instructions

Step1: First, thaw your puff pastry at room temperature for about 20 minutes. Carefully unfold it and lay it flat.
Step2: Preheat oven to 400F degrees.
Step3: Cut the sheet into 9 equal squares. I use a pizza cutter for this.

Step4: On 4 of the squares, place a piece of banana and 2 teaspoons of Nutella on top.

Step5: Place the other 4 squares on top and seal the edges. I find it best to use a fork for this. Make sure the edges are nice and sealed so none of the Nutella leaks out while baking.
Step6: Place your stuffed pastries on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake in a 400F degree oven for 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

Step7: Remove and patiently wait until they are cool enough to touch.
Serves as is or with a dusting of powdered sugar or a drizzle of Nutella (or both if you want to get all crazy).
Variations
- Add sliced strawberries or diced apples in place of the bananas;
- Substitute a teaspoon of peanut butter for 1 teaspoon of Nutella;
- Crumble up some potato chips and add them for a salty sweet combo;
- Replace the bananas with marshmallows for a Nutella S'mores option.

Expert Tips
- If the pastry edges aren’t sticking, dampen them with a little water before crimping with a fork.
- For extra shine and color, brush with egg wash (one beaten egg + 2 teaspoon water) before baking.
- Want to get fancy? Dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with warm Nutella before serving.
Common Questions
Absolutely! Strawberries, peanut butter, caramel, or even marshmallows work beautifully.
Not required, but popping them in the freezer for 5 minutes helps them puff up even more.
You can prep them and refrigerate for a couple hours before baking. They taste best fresh!

Storing Instructions
Store leftover pastries in an airtight container at room temperature for 1 day, or in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for best crispiness — the microwave will soften them.

I made them just a little more complicated but loved the end result: I mixed the Nutella with 2 tbs cream cheese and added sliced strawberries to the filling. Then, I brushed the pastries with an egg wash and sprinkled them with granulated sugar before baking. My wife usually just humors my spontaneous desserts, but we devoured these!
Danielle says
Love those ideas! I def have to try the cream cheese mixture 🙂

I absolutely love Nutella and most times eat it straight from the jar but this is a brilliant idea. I also love puff pastry so stuffing chocolately hazelnut goodness inside sounds perfect to me!
