Wrapping your veggies in bacon is a sure way to get everyone to eat them, am I right? Don’t get me wrong, I love a simple roasted asparagus, but wrap some bacon around it and I’ll eat the whole batch.
This Bacon Wrapped Asparagus recipe is also super easy to make, and can be on the table in under 30 minutes! Quick, easy, and bacon…what more can a girl ask for?
And don’t even worry about soggy bacon…you know, when you order bacon wrapped asparagus and you get that soggy gross bacon? We use a thinner bacon and roast it at the perfect temperature so you don’t have to worry about that!
Why This Recipe Works
- The bacon is wrapped thinly around the asparagus bundles to ensure it crisps in the oven;
- The high oven temperature also helps to bacon to get crisp;
- Thin or regular cut bacon is used so that it cooks all the way through and becomes crispy.
How to Make Oven Bacon Wrapped Asparagus
The key to this recipe is making sure your bacon gets nice and crisp, and the best way to do that is in the oven. Don’t forget to watch the step by step video below!
Step 1: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Trim about 2 inches off the bottom of each stalk. This should eliminate the stringy, tough portion of the asparagus.
Step 2: Wrap one piece of bacon around 3-5 stalks of asparagus.Continue until all asparagus is wrapped in bacon.
Step 3: Place on a rack on a baking sheet and cook for 10 minutes on each side, flipping half way through.
Pop under the broiler for a couple minutes to make it extra crisp if you’d like.

- Line the baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Save the bacon fat in a sealable container when the asparagus is done cooking.
- If your bacon is not crisp enough, pop it under the broiler for a couple minutes – just be sure it doesn’t burn!
- To make it ahead of time, wrap all your asparagus with bacon and store in a covered container in the fridge overnight. Cook according to the instructions when ready.

Right? Bacon makes everything delicious!
Since I always have thick sliced bacon for breakfast, that is what I used. It was still great but I think that thin sliced bacon could maybe be better because the bacon would cook better. Also, I think I will try to find thicker asparagus. It was very good.
I’m glad you liked it! The thin slices does crisp up better in the oven.
